Job description
The tank pressure tester will carry out work in the welding department. The sections, structures and hulls are welded under the responsibility of this department. The tanks are pressurised using air, the tank pressure tester will then test the tank for leaks. Any holes will be grounded out and welded by the tank pressure tester, after which the weld will be finished with a wire brush and grinding.
The tank pressure tester can independently locate and pressurise the tanks indicated on the shipbuilding drawing. He will also report to his manager which tanks have been checked and can be offered for collection by the customer's representative.
Characteristic of the welding work:
· Relatively thin material, maximum thickness 8 to 10 mm
· Work neatly, do not weld too heavily and finish the welds neatly
· Able to work independently
The holes are welded with the welding process Arc Welding with Coated Electrode, knowledge of the MAG welding process is desirable.
Job requirements· Read the ship's construction drawing and orientate oneself on the tanks to be tested
· Prepare accurate reports that can inform the supervisor about the progress of the work
· Provide the necessary tools and equipment to pressurise the tanks with air and check for leaks
· It must be possible to communicate with the tank pressure tester in Dutch or English, Dutch is an advantage
· Ensuring a clean and safe working environment
