The Role
The role is focused on assembling steel constructions and performing various assigned tasks on main and auxiliary machinery, typically on board ships. Operates under the hierarchical leadership of the Production Pool Coordinator. On a daily operational basis, reports to a Foreman.

 

Key Accountabilities
· Receives assignments/instructions. Reads diagrams/drawings.
· Prepares the work (assesses workspace, lighting, availability of resources and materials) and determines the approach within given margins.
· Disassembles main/auxiliary machinery.
· Processes, repairs, overhauls. Performs various operations (sawing, cutting, grinding, (arc)welding, bending, etc.).
· Handles assembly, installation work.
· Performs auxiliary tasks outside own core trade, such as basic burning/arc welding.
· Carries out adjacent and assigned tasks. Ensures a clean/tidy workspace.
· Demonstrates safe working behavior, prevents environmental impact during work execution, utilizes quality-focused working methods. Promotes this behavior in others.

 

Skills & Experience
We expect candidates to have:
· A work and thinking level equivalent to a BBL 3 (vocational training) level.
· Possession of the required advanced theoretical and practical mechanical trade knowledge.
· Possess (experience-based) insight to partly determine approaches independently, find solutions for more technically complex situations, and identify potential problems.
· Demonstrate manual skills in various tasks, from fitting parts to assembling delicate machinery.
· Knowledge of the use of measuring and calibration tools.
· Mastery of the English language at a level enabling operational coordination with non-Dutch speakers.
